Give Us a Call:

Well, that seems rather obvious, however, when you call us at (512) 600-0990, you will experience our first level IVR. An IVR or integrated voice response is also known as a digital receptionist. An IVR gives you the ability to present choices to your caller on how to route the call. Our initial IVR gives you the choice of contacting our Sales or Support group. If we don't answer within 20 seconds, you are presented with a second IVR. This IVR allows you to leave an immediate voicemail, or to reach us by ringing over to our cell phone.

We have turned our first level IVR off at this time. We needed to do this due to the "Call Me" feature we added to our website.

Let's Discuss Your Company's Requirements:

We need to know what you are looking for in a phone system. Some of the likely topics for discussion are:

  • How do you use your phones today, and where are you wanting to go with your phone system?
  • What type of incoming, outgoing, long distance, toll free, and international calling are you using or wanting to use?
  • What features are most important to your business?
  • What type of equipment and services are you currently using for phones?
  • What type of equipment and services are you using for your WAN and LAN network?
  • What type of LAN infrastructure exists in your location?
  • Are you wanting a pure VoIP system, or a combination of VoIP and analog?
  • How quickly are you looking to implement a new phone system solution?

As you can see, there will be many questions needing answers. We can discuss your requirements by phone, or schedule a free appointment for this discussion to take place. If you decide to schedule an appointment for discussion, this would also be a good time to allow us to make an assessment of your site's readiness for a VoIP system. During the assessment, we will be looking closely at your business' network services, equipment, and overall infrastructure.

Schedule a FREE On Site Assessment:

There are certain requirements to running a VoIP telephone system. Some of the things we will be looking at:

  • Current LAN network structure, such as whether your building is wired or wireless
  • Location of WAN equipment, such as modems and routers
  • Current router and switch equipment
  • Type of data network or internet service provider such as Cable, DSL, T1 ISDN or T1 PRI
  • Current phone equipment
  • Locations for current and future phone equipment
  • Any issues that would be detrimental to the quality of a VoIP system

Prepare for Installation:

Being well prepared for a VoIP installation is the most important step. The infrastructure should be in place, which might mean adding ethernet outlets if wired connectivity is desired. Routers and modems should be compatible with VoIP technology. The most important aspect of a a router in a VoIP network is the ability to provide Quality of Service (QOS) for the phones. QOS allows you to give the call data higher priority than that of regular data transfers or surfing the internet. There are many inexpensive routers that can provide this functionality if you don't already have it.

Depending on the complexity of your VoIP system requirements, along with your current internet provider and equipment set, a VoIP installation could be as simple as adding the phone server to your current network and turning it on. After that, it's a simple matter of setting up your extensions, ring groups, and IVRs. You may need to add analog telephone adapters if you plan on keeping any of your analog telephone equipment. While this is possible, it will add to the complexity of your system, and with the great prices to be found on pure VoIP phones these days, it may be well worthwhile to consider installing VoIP handsets.

During the prep phase, all equipment needs should be identified and acquired. VoIP service providers should be identified and accounts set up. Plans to discontinue POTS (plain old telephone service) lines should be made, along with starting the process to have any current telephone numbers ported over (moved) from one service to another. The porting process can take from a few days, to several weeks, depending on the efficiency of the current holder of your telephone number, as well as that of the provider you intend to transfer the number to. Lots of details, but it's really not as bad as it sounds. Again, being prepared is key to a successful VoIP installation.

5

Schedule the Installation:

Finally, the installation date should be set. A fairly simple installation would include the following (not all inclusive):

  • Hook the phone server up to the network
  • Set up the router to reserve IP addresses for server and phones, and set up QOS for priority on call data
  • Hook up all phones (extensions)
  • Program phone server for all extensions, ring groups, queues, IVRs, and other requested feature sets
  • Set up phone server with all VoIP and/or POTS service provider accounts, to include Trunks, Incoming Routes, and Outbound Routes
  • Testing of system and training of company personnel for administration of system. Administration of the system can be as little or detailed as you feel comfortable with

The installation of the system can take from between 1 to 3 days depending on the complexity of the system, and the number of extensions needed.

6

Finally

Be Amazed by the features of your new VoIP telephone system, and enjoy the power you now have over who provides your telephone services, and how little you're going to pay.
